Subjunctive Question
Was there a more cost effective way of getting these bases instead of island hopping?
Summary
Island hopping is the American process of getting one island and then jumping to another that is not right beside. This was all lead by General Douglas MacArthur, Commander of the Allied forces in the South west Pacific, and Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, Commander-in-chief of the Pacific fleet. The Japanese were stuck on the islands that were not captured for years becasue no one ever told them that the war was over. They stayed on these islands becasue they were taught to fight to the death and not give up.
