Summary
Bernard Montgomery and his Desert Rats fought Rommel and the Afrika Korps in North Africa over the Suez Canal and the oil in the Middle East. Montgomery and his Desert Rats won a turning point battler at El Alamein in 1942 by sending a note to the Germans saying; "NUTS". This put the Germans off because they had no idea what it mean't. This showed that eve the best German troops could be beaten. The Americans join soon after in 1942 under Dwight D. Eisenhower.
