“What technological advancements had the most significant impact in World War II?”
Technology played a huge role in the outcome of WWII. It is very evident that nuclear bombs had the most significant imapct on WWII. They changed the entire concept of war. Before nuclear weapons were invented the playing feild was somewhat even, each country had various guns, tanks, rockets, planes, etc. The nuclear weapon brought a whole new playing feild into the war, not to mention, it was what brought WWII to an end. After the Japanese attack Pearl Harbor the Americans took actions to fight back. The Manhattan project included some of the worlds greatest scientists who grouped together and created three nuclear bombs; Trinity, Little Boy and Fat Man. The USA president at the time decided to drop Little boy on Hiroshima and Fat Man on Nagasaki. Japan lost thousands of people due to these bombings and despite the fact that it is against their culture to surrender, they had to. The dropping of those atomic bombs changed the world forever. Since then not one nuclear bomb has been dropped becasue each country knows now what they are capable of. These weapons did not only effect the War, but the entire world.

“In your opinion, what was the most significant turning point for the Allies in WWII?”
In my opinion, the Battle of Stalingrad was the most significant turning point for the Allies in WWII. This is the time when the Soviet people suddenly started to belive in themselves. The Germans were then vulnerable after 91, 000 Germans were taken prisioners. As soon as Germany was defeated and no longer had the manpower to cope with the Russians due to their loss of men and equiment, the Allies became stronger. It gave them hope and motivation to keep fighting, knowning that they were capable of beating the Germans. In the case of Germany winning this battle, they would have been able to take over Russia which would have made them much stronger than they already were. If they were not defeated they soon would have taken over all of Europe. The Battler of Stalingrad prevented this because it knocked down Germany and built up the Allies resulting in various other turning points following this battle. Therefor, the German defeat at Stalingrad was the most important turning point for the Allies in WWII. It ensured that the Allies were stong enough to fight back and help other countries gain back their power to fight off Germany. “Explain Winston Churchill’s quote: “Wars are not won on evacuations”
In Winston Churchill's quote: "Wars are not won on evacuations," he is stating that you cannot rely on solely evacutaions of your soldiers to win a war. An evacuation if the immediate removal of people from a place. When you take your soldiers away from the war scene you are just going to move the war to where the soldiers were moved, not taking control of the peice of land you are fighting for. Fighting for a peice of land is one of the main reasons that wars even occur. Why take your soldiers away from it? It will not help to win the war. This quote was about the Dunkirk evacuation. The Dunkirk evacuation was the evacuation of Allied soldiers from the beaches and harbor of Dunkirk, France, between 27 May and 4 June 1940. Churchill’s quote was said during his 'We shall fight on the beaches,' speech in June 1940. The quote is about the trial of strength between French, British and Belgian troops and when they were surrounded in Dunkirk on the beach harbour. Instead of fighting what would have been a very gruesome fight with many deaths, the troops evacuated. Churchill believed that constantly evacuating would only extend the war, a point he made very clear to the civilians. Although evacuating does save lives, it does not allow for the country to sucseed in their goal of winning the war. The movie "Saving Private Ryan" start out with an old man standing at a white cross in a feild full of thousands of them. We do not know who the man is until the movie flashes back to the Allied invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944. Under Cpt. Miller, soldiers fight to secure a beachhead. In this battle, two brothers with the last name Ryan are killed. They find out there are two more brothers, although the third one was killed in action. This least the last brother standing, Private Jame Ryan. Mrs. Ryan was supposed to receive all three of the grave telegrams on the same day. The US Army Cheif of Staff goes to her house and tells her about her three dead sons, the proceeds to tell her that one is still alive and that he is going to send out a search mission to find him and send him home. He send out 8 men, which consists of, Cpt. Miller and select members from 2nd Rangers. They go out on a mission to find him and along the way loose their medic. When they finally find him, he does not want to go home. He does not see why he deserves to go home and no one else does. They all have family as well, he says. Since he will not go home, Cpt. Miller and the rest of his men stay and help the remainder of men at the camp fight the Germans. Cpt. Miller will not let Ryan die, so he keeps him by his side the entire fight. They are victorious with the help of sudden fighter jets. In the end, Cpt. Miller ends up dying so that Ryan can live to go home to his mother. Private James Ryan is the old man standing at Cpt. Miller's grave at the beginning of the movie.
