Summary
The Tiannamen Square Massacre occured Jne 3-4 1989. It had slowly been moving towards it through democracy movements since Deng came into power. May 4th they had mass rallies for the 70th anniversaries of the last major democratic uprising. After these rallies many of the students stayed behind and started a hunger stike. The PLA was ordered to take whatever actiosn they felt necessary and early in June the Army arrives. They opened fire on June 3rd. There were 400-800 deaths that occured in this event which reaffirmed China's hardline on public freedoms and other parties. In 1992, Deng ended price controls becasue his economic chnages were irreversible. In this event there was a young man who stood infront if the incoming tanks. No one could figure out who it was but it was rumoured to have been named Wang Weilin, a 19 year old student. No one knows what happened to him after the fact.
