In what ways did Woodrow Wilson think that collective security might prevent another world war, and why was the League of Nations doomed from its creation?
Woodrow Wilson belived that collective security could prevent another world war because the countries would then be unanimous in their decisions. He believed that the war broke out because of a lack of communication and understanding between the countries. All of the countries would now be collectively joined under the League of Nations for one puropse. The puropse being to bring world peace in order to lessen the threat of another war. Although this was a great idea the League of Nations was doomed from the start with the exculsion of the US, Germany and Russia. The reason the US was excluded came from within the US President. At the time the US was practicing isolationsim. Isolationsim means that the president belived that his nations interests were best served by keeping the affairs of other countries at a distance and not involving themselves in international involvement which kept their country from being drawn into dangerous and otherwise undesirable conflicts. Russia's exclusion came from within the League of Nations. Russians were practicing communism which many people were afraid of, making them afraid of all Russians. Germany was not allowed to join because the League of Nations did not belive it was fair to allow the country who lost to join. With the absence of those three major powers the League of Nations was never going to work out.

What were the motives of the "Big Three" at the Paris Peace Conference and why were there originally a "Big 4"?
The "Big Three" conisists of the USA, France and Britain. These three countries helped to make up the Paris Peace Confrence which occured at the end of WWI to build world order after the war. Each of the thre countries had their own motives upon attending the conference. Many of the motives each country had were focused arounf Germany and the role they wanted the country to play in the world. Firstly, US president Woodrow Wilson wanted to rebuild Germany's democratic lines, as well as creating self determination for other European countries. Secondly, George Clemenceau, the leader of France at the time wanted to dimember Germany and weaken them so that they could never start another war again. He also wanted Germany to pay severe reparations. Thridly, David Lloyd George, the leader of Britain also wanted Germany to pay reparations, but unlike France he wanted Germany to remain fairly strong as a trade partner. The "Big Three" were known as the "Big Four" becuase originally they had 4 members. The fourth member was Italy who was under the control of Vittorio Emanuele Orlando. Italy did not remain part of the "Big Four" because Orlando soon relaized that he was not going to get the land he was promised when joining the "Big Three." Hi! My name is Olivia Edwards.
