- Reds controlled the industry and had majority of the population
- Lower classes were generally Red
- Middle and upper classes were White
- Peasants were neutral

In the Russian Civil War there was two sides, the Reds and the Whites. The reds were the Bolsheviks and the Whites were all groups who opposed the Bolsheviks. Lower classes were generally Red and middle and upper classes were White. Peasants were normally neutral because they had nothing more to lose. The Whites won the early victories in the civil war, however, the reds were more organized and central. The Reds also controlled the industry and had the majoirty of the population. The tides turned due to Leon Trotsky and the Reds won the war.
