During his Presidency, he increased military spending as a part of the renewed arms race with thr USSR. He also came up with Reaganomics. Throughout the 1980's the US and the USSR were in an arms race. The USSR had an advantage. The newest issue tha arised was how to deliever the missiles. "Smart Weapons" were weapons and tanks that could be controlled by a computer.
